Sex & Relationship Therapist
Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist #127672
“When it comes to something as deeply personal as sex we often can feel isolated, hopeless, anxious, or ashamed when something goes wrong. No matter how long you’ve been feeling this way, you don’t have to face it alone.”
In our society, we are constantly confronted by cultural messaging about what is and is not acceptable. Alexandria is no stranger to this. Growing up in a first-generation household, sex and sexuality were topics that were only met with derision, shame, and guilt. However, this did not stop her from embracing who she was despite the negative messaging she received as a young girl. Alexandria is passionate about supporting individuals and helping them embrace their sexualities, as well as explore it in ways that were previously constricted by stereotypes, taboos, and religious practices. She is dedicated to cultivating an environment where you can safely embrace who you are free from judgment and shame.
Alexandria’s interest in sexuality began during her undergraduate studies at California State University, Northridge where she received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Sexuality. She was most interested in sex, gender, and the intricate influence of culture. She then went on to earn her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. Before joining Togetherness Therapy, Alexandria provided individual and group therapy for male veterans suffering from homelessness and substance abuse in a residential treatment setting. While working with this population, Alexandria gained significant experience working with males who have experienced military sexual trauma. With a trauma-informed and collaborative approach, Alexandria can provide guidance to individuals to deepen their relationship to themselves and help to create a foundation for building healthy relationships with others. Alexandria believes that everyone deserves to feel empowered to seek pleasurable experiences and have more fulfilling and secure relationships. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
